Body-Solid G6B Bi-Angular Home Gym
The Body-Solid G6B is a six station home gym built around one 210 lb. selectorized weight stack, with a 260 lb. stack available. It is the current version of the machine Body-Solid sold as the G6BR, so if you have been shopping the G6BR, this is the same gym under its current model name. The frame measures 83.5 in. long by 58.5 in. wide by 83 in. tall.
Intended use: home and light commercial
What makes the G6B different from a standard home gym?
The patented Bi-Angular press arm. On most home gyms the press arm travels on one fixed path, so your chest gets a rest at the top of every rep. The Bi-Angular arm applies resistance from two directions at once and follows the arc your arms want to take, the way a pair of dumbbells does. Body-Solid measures that as 25 percent more muscle interaction than a single angle press.
It also has a real Perfect Pec station with swiveling arms, so you can train one side at a time or both together. Most gyms in this price range give you a cable fly off the low pulley and call it done.

Body-Solid's walkthrough runs the machine station by station, which is the fastest way to judge whether the press arm and the pec station suit how you train.
What can you train on it?
-
Bi-Angular press arm: chest press, incline press, shoulder press, mid row, back hyperextension
-
Perfect Pec station: pec fly, one arm or both arms
-
High pulley: lat pulldown, triceps pressdown
-
Mid pulley: ab crunch, triceps extension, lateral raise
-
Low pulley: biceps curl, seated row, upright row, oblique bend, hip abduction and adduction
-
Leg developer: leg extension, seated leg curl
Nothing here needs a cable change. You move to the next station, set the pin, and go.
The number most buyers get wrong
The frame is 83.5 in. by 58.5 in., but the live working area is 85 in. long by 84 in. wide by 84 in. tall. That is the space your body and the moving arms actually sweep through. People measure the frame, order the gym, and then find they cannot open the press arms in a room they thought was big enough. Plan for the 85 by 84 in. working area, not the frame footprint, and give yourself 7 ft. of ceiling. Adding a side attachment adds about 2 more feet on that side.
How is it built?
The mainframe is 2 in. by 3 in. tubing in 11 gauge steel with an electrostatic powder coat. Cables are military spec steel aircraft cable rated to 2,200 lb. tension with swiveling ends. Pulleys are 4.5 in. impact resistant fiberglass reinforced nylon turning on precision machined steel ball bearings. The press, incline, shoulder press and leg developer stations run on the SmoothGlide Bearing System, and the leg developer has an integrated cam so resistance does not fall off at the end of the movement.
Padding is high density DuraFirm with a built in lumbar support. The seat post is chrome plated and gas assisted, so height changes take a second instead of a wrestling match. Frame and welds are covered for life. The full terms are in the Warranty tab on this page.

Pick the 210 lb. stack unless you already pull more than about 180 lb. on a lat pulldown or seated row. Those two movements run out of stack first. The press stations rarely do, because the linkage means you are not lifting the plate weight one for one. If you are close to the limit today, buy the 260 now. It is the same 50 lb. of plates either way, and having them fitted at the factory beats adding them later.
Which attachments are worth adding?
All four are in the Recommended Options box above, so you can add them to this order rather than buying them separately later.
| Add-on |
What it does |
Adds |
| GLP Leg Press |
A real leg press on a 1:2 ratio, so a 210 lb. stack presses like 420 lb. Adds 147 lb. and about 5 ft. on that side |
$1,125 |
| GIOT Inner and Outer Thigh |
Seated hip abductor and adductor, five range of motion settings, lumbar supported pad. 117 lb. |
$1,305 |
| GROW Rower |
Turns the low pulley into a seated rower. 66 in. rail, 43 lb., stands against a wall when not in use |
$315 |
| GAP6 Aluminum Pulleys |
Swaps the nylon pulleys for machined aluminum with sealed bearings. Quieter and smoother, no extra resistance |
$400 |
One side attachment at a time. The G6B has a single mounting position on the side of the frame, so the leg press and the thigh station cannot both be fitted. Pick the one you will use, because swapping later means unbolting one to hang the other. The rower and the pulley upgrade stack with either.
If you only add one thing, make it the leg press. It is the difference between a gym that trains your upper body well and one that trains everything.
Frequently asked questions
How much room do I need for the G6B?
Give it a clear area of 85 in. by 84 in. and a ceiling of at least 7 ft. The frame itself is smaller, 83.5 in. by 58.5 in., but the press arms and the lat bar need the extra room to travel. Add roughly 2 more feet on one side if you order a side attachment.
Is the Perfect Pec station included or is it an add on?
It is included on both configurations. It is part of the machine, not an accessory.
Can I have both the leg press and the thigh station?
No. The G6B has one side mounting position, so it takes the leg press or the inner and outer thigh station, not both. Choose based on which you will use more.
How do I get the 260 lb. stack?
Choose it in the Weight Stack option above. It is not a separate add-on, and there is no reason to buy loose plates. The 260 lb. build ships with the taller stack and the longer guide rods already fitted.
How long does assembly take?
Body-Solid says professional installers take about 3 hours. If this is your first gym build, plan on a full day with a helper. The frame sections are heavy and awkward for one person, and cable routing is the slow part. A side attachment adds time on top of that.
What comes with it?
A revolving lat bar, a revolving straight bar, an ankle strap, an ab and triceps strap, a Total Body Workout DVD, a full size exercise chart, and a water bottle and towel holder.
Can I add attachments later, or do I have to buy them now?
You can add them any time. Buying with the machine saves a second freight charge and a second assembly session, which is the main reason to decide now. The leg press in particular is far easier to fit while the frame is still open.
Is the G6B the same as the G6BR?
Yes. G6B is the current model name for the machine Body-Solid previously listed as the G6BR. Body-Solid still publishes the owner manual and parts schematic under the G6BR file name.
Can two people use it at once?
No. It runs off one weight stack, so it is a single user machine. Two people can alternate sets without changing cables, which keeps a shared workout moving.
How does it ship?
By freight truck, curbside, with a liftgate included. You need to be there to sign for it and help move the cartons off the truck. Adding the leg press or the thigh station adds pallets to the same shipment.
Purchase benefits
- Free freight shipping in the continental United States
- Lifetime coverage on the frame and welds, with the full schedule in the Warranty tab on this page
- Owner manual, parts schematic and data sheet linked in the Specs and Logistics tab
Bottom line: Buy the G6B when you want six commercial grade stations and a true pec station in one frame, and you have an 85 by 84 in. corner to give it. Add the leg press if you want a real lower body press without buying a second machine.
