Body-Solid GLP Premium Leg Press Attachment
The GLP bolts a real leg press onto the side of a Body-Solid G Series home gym. It runs off the gym's existing weight stack through a 1:2 ratio, so every pound you select becomes two pounds against your legs. On a 210 lb. stack that is 420 lb. of press.
Intended use: home and light commercial
Why does the ratio matter so much?
Because legs are strong. Most home gym owners max out a leg extension long before they are anywhere near working hard, and a straight 1:1 cable press would run out of stack on day one. The 1:2 linkage is what makes a home gym stack enough for a movement your whole lower body can push against.
It is also the reason this is the single best upgrade on a G Series gym. Every other attachment adds an exercise. This one adds a training day.
How is it built?
A double beam frame carries the load on both sides of the carriage, which keeps the press plate square and takes the twisting stress off your ankles. The plate pivots forward and down as you press, so your feet stay flat through the whole stroke instead of rolling at the top.
The plate itself is oversized and covered in non slip rubber, so you can set your feet high, low, wide or narrow and change which muscles do the work. Side stability handles lock your hips in place. The pivots run on commercial grade pillow block bearings.
Which gyms does it fit?
The GLP mounts to the Body-Solid G2B, G3S, G5S, G6B and G10B. It is a side mounted attachment, and most G Series frames have one side mounting position, so it takes the place of an inner and outer thigh station rather than sitting alongside one.
Frequently asked questions
How much room does it need?
The attachment is 62 in. long, 47 in. wide and 31.7 in. tall, and it hangs off one side of the gym. Plan on about 5 more feet of clear floor on that side, plus room to get in and out of the seat.
Can I use it with the inner and outer thigh attachment at the same time?
On most G Series frames, no. There is one side mounting position, so you pick one. Check your gym's manual if you are not sure which frame you have.
Does it come with its own weight?
No. It uses the weight stack already in your gym. That is the point, and it is why a leg press that would cost several thousand dollars on its own costs what it does here.
How heavy is it and how does it ship?
147 lb., by freight, curbside. If it ships with a gym it arrives on the same delivery.
Is it easier to install with the gym or after?
With the gym. The mounting bolts are far easier to reach before everything else is torqued down. Adding it later is doable, it just takes longer.
