Body-Solid KBV Vinyl Coated Kettlebell Sets
The KBV is Body-Solid's vinyl dipped cast iron kettlebell, sold here in five pre-built sets from 70 lb. to 295 lb. Every bell is color coded by weight, so a coach can say "grab a black one" across a busy floor and everyone picks up 20 lb.
The number that should pick your set is not the total weight. It is whether the 8 lb. and 12 lb. bells are in the box. Sets built without them step 5, 10, 15, 20. That is a 100% jump on a new lifter's second increase, at exactly the weights where small steps matter most. Sets built with them step 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20. Two of the five sets below include those bells. Three do not.
Which KBV set should you buy?
Pick by who is lifting, not by the total on the label. The 70 lb. set is the beginner and group fitness set. The 105 lb. set trades those small steps for heavier top end. The 295 lb. set is the only one with no gaps anywhere.

Every weight, no gaps. The complete line |
The KBVS295 is the whole KBV line in one order. It is the only set where a 100 lb. member and a 220 lb. member can both find their working weight and their warm up weight.
What does the vinyl coating actually do?
It protects your floor and it protects the bell. Bare cast iron chips wood, dents rubber tile, and rings loudly when a tired lifter drops it. The vinyl dip absorbs that. It also stops the rust and hand chalk buildup that makes old iron bells feel gritty.
The trade is grip. Vinyl over the handle is smoother than bare or powder coated iron. For swings, cleans, and presses in a class setting that is fine and most people prefer it. For heavy competition style snatch volume, a powder coated or competition bell gives more bite.
What color is each weight?
The color code is fixed across the whole KBV line, so a bell bought today matches one bought three years ago.

Do the sets come with a rack?
No. Every KBV set ships as loose bells with no rack. That is worth planning for, because 12 kettlebells sitting on the floor is a trip hazard and a lawsuit in a staffed facility.
Four Body-Solid racks fit these sets and they are listed under Recommended Options above the Add to Cart button, so you can pick one and take it in the same order. They run from the compact GDKR50B, which holds a six bell set in a 19 by 16 in. footprint, up to the all welded Pro ClubLine SRK200, which takes the full 12 bell set on three 62 in. tiers. Tier sizes and pairings for all four are in the Optional Accessories row of the Specs and Logistics tab below.
How much floor space does a set need?
Racked, plan on the rack footprint plus about 3 ft. of standing room in front of it. Unracked, a 12 bell set laid in a single row takes roughly 8 ft. of wall.
Swinging is the real space question. A kettlebell swing needs about 6 ft. by 6 ft. of clear floor per person, with nothing overhead within 8 ft. if anyone is doing snatches or overhead presses.
Are these rated for commercial use?
Yes. Body-Solid lists the KBV for both commercial and residential use. The exact warranty terms are in the Specs and Logistics tab below. Note that the vinyl coating is a wear item and normal scuffing is not covered.
One honest limit. Vinyl coated bells are not the right pick for a facility that lets members drop bells on concrete from overhead. The coating splits and the iron underneath is exposed. For that use, buy powder coated or competition bells.
How is the KBV different from Body-Solid's other kettlebells?
Body-Solid sells four kettlebell lines. The KBV is the vinyl dipped one. The KBR is powder coated iron, the KBC is a premium cast iron bell, and the KBX is a kilogram competition bell with a uniform size across all weights. The KBV is the cheapest of the four and the only one color coded by weight.
Frequently asked questions
Do the sets include a rack?
No. All five sets ship as loose bells. Pick a rack from the options above the Add to Cart button if you need one.
Which set has the smallest jumps between weights?
The KBVS70 and the KBVS295. Both include the 8 lb. and 12 lb. bells, so the bottom of the range steps 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20 instead of 5, 10, 15, 20.
Can I buy a single replacement bell?
Not on this page. These are sets only. Contact us with the model code, for example KBV25 for the 25 lb. orange bell, and we will quote it.
Is any assembly required?
No. The bells are a single cast piece and ship ready to use. The racks do need assembly, usually under 30 minutes with a wrench and an Allen key.
How do these ship?
Sets over 150 lb. ship by freight truck and arrive curbside. The 70 lb. and 105 lb. sets usually ship by ground carrier in multiple boxes, so expect them to arrive on different days.
Will the color rub off on my floor?
No. The vinyl is dipped and cured onto the casting, not painted on. It can scuff, but it does not transfer color.
What is the handle diameter?
Body-Solid does not publish a handle diameter for the KBV line, and it changes with the bell size the way it does on any cast kettlebell. We have asked for the figures and will add them here when we have them.
What is the difference between the KBVS105 and the KBVS125?
The KBVS125 is the KBVS105 with the 8 lb. and 12 lb. bells added. Same top weight of 30 lb., two more bells, smaller steps at the bottom.
The bottom line
Buy the KBVS70 if you are outfitting a class where most people are new. Buy the KBVS125 if you want that same smooth bottom end but need to go to 30 lb. Buy the KBVS295 if you want the whole line and never want to hear "there is nothing between 20 and 30." And add a rack, because the set does not come with one.
