Body-Solid SGLP500 Pro Clubline Leg Press
The SGLP500 is a plate loaded leg press with a 45 degree sled rated to 1,500 lb. The sled rides on sealed linear bearings instead of bushings, which is the whole reason the model exists. Assembled it weighs 555.6 lb. and measures 88.8 in. long by 67.7 in. wide by 54.1 in. tall.
Intended use: Full Commercial. Model: SGLP500. Weight plates are not included.
What do linear bearings actually change?
They change how the sled feels once it is loaded. Most leg presses at this price run the carriage on nylon or bronze bushings that slide along steel guide rods.
Bushings work. They also get grabby as the load climbs, and they wear into a loose fit after a few years of heavy traffic.
Sealed linear bearings roll instead of slide. Friction stays close to the same whether the carriage is empty or holding 1,500 lb., and the seals keep chalk dust and grit out of the raceway. In a room that runs leg day five days a week, that is the difference between a machine that still tracks straight in year five and one that clunks.
How much weight can it actually hold?
The carriage is rated to 1,500 lb. The real limit is horn space. There are two 14.75 in. Olympic weight horns on the carriage, so you load across 29.5 in. of horn in total.
That is far more headroom than most lifters will ever use. Just remember the machine arrives empty. Plates are a separate purchase.

Frequently asked questions
Are weight plates included?
No. The SGLP500 is plate loaded and ships with no plates at all. You supply standard 2 in. Olympic plates. Budget for enough to work with, since the carriage takes 1,500 lb.
How much floor space does it need?
The machine itself is 88.8 in. long and 67.7 in. wide. Plan on roughly a 9 ft. by 8 ft. area so there is room to get in and out of the seat and reach both loading horns. Ceiling height is not a factor because it tops out at 54.1 in.
How long does assembly take?
Plan on 2 to 3 hours with two people. Body-Solid's manual specifically calls for two people to hold the carriage during installation. You supply a standard wrench set, a metric wrench set and an adjustable wrench.
How does it ship, and how heavy is the delivery?
It arrives as three crates with a combined gross weight of 716 lb. The largest crate is 78.7 in. long and the widest is 37.6 in., so measure your doorways. Freight lands at the curb, so plan how the crates get from there to the training room.
Is this the same machine as the SLP500G?
No. The SLP500G is the selectorized Pro Clubline leg press with a weight stack and a pin. The SGLP500 is plate loaded with no stack. Different machines, different part numbers.
Can it go in a home garage gym?
Yes, if you have the floor space and a plate collection. It is built to full commercial spec, so nothing about it is too light for home use. The honest limits are footprint and the fact that 555.6 lb. of machine plus plates is a lot of load on a raised floor.
What holds the sled when I rack it?
A flip in, flip out safety racking mechanism. There is also an assist handle so you can get set and unrack without twisting under the load.
Are there attachments for it?
No. Body-Solid publishes no bolt on accessories for the SGLP500. It is sold as one complete machine.

Bottom line: Buy the SGLP500 when you want a leg press that will not be the weak link. The 1,500 lb. carriage covers any lifter who walks in, and the sealed linear bearings are what keep it feeling that way after a few thousand sets.
