What Actually Separates These Machines
Joint impact, ranked honestly
Every machine here is lower impact than running outdoors, so the useful question is not whether a machine is low impact but how much of your body weight it takes off your joints. A seat takes off the most, a fixed stride path takes off some, and a moving belt takes off almost none.

Number two: measure from the step, not the floor

Space, Delivery And Installation
Measure the room before you shortlist anything, because the machine footprint is never the space you actually need. Add roughly 4 ft. behind a treadmill, open floor in front of a rower, and swivel room beside a recumbent stepper.
Then check the path in. Doorway width, hallway turns, stair landings and elevator depth decide whether a 95 in. rower or an 82 in. treadmill can physically reach the room.
