Why does the plug matter more than the horsepower?
Because the plug is the honest version of the horsepower claim. The T150 ships with a NEMA 5-20P plug. That is the 20 amp plug with the sideways slot on one blade, and it will not fit a standard household outlet.
Almost every treadmill sold for home use runs on a normal 15 amp outlet, which caps how much current the motor can pull no matter what the box says. The T150 is wired for a dedicated 20 amp circuit, so its 4 HP motor can actually draw what it is rated for during a long run at incline. That is the difference between a motor that holds its speed under a heavy runner and one that heats up and gives ground.
It also means there is one thing to check before you order. If the room does not already have a dedicated 20 amp outlet, an electrician has to add one. Commercial buildings usually already have the circuit. Home buyers are the ones who get caught out.
How do you tell if you already have a dedicated 20 amp circuit?
Three checks, listed from easiest to most thorough. You do not need an electrician to answer this question. You may need one to fix the answer.
1. Look at the outlet itself.
A 20 amp receptacle has one slot shaped like a capital T lying on its side. If you see that T shape, the circuit behind it is 20 amp. The catch is that the reverse is not true. Electrical code allows ordinary looking outlets on a 20 amp circuit, so a normal outlet does not rule one out. It just means you keep checking.
2. Read the number on the breaker.
Open your electrical panel and look at the number printed on the end of each breaker switch. That number is the amp rating, and in a house it is almost always 15 or 20. To find which breaker feeds the outlet you care about, plug in a lamp or a radio, then switch breakers off one at a time until it goes dark. Read the number on that breaker.
3. Confirm the circuit is dedicated.
Dedicated means that circuit feeds the treadmill and nothing else. With that breaker still switched off, walk the rest of the house and see what else lost power. If lights or outlets in other rooms went dark too, the circuit is shared. A 4 HP motor sharing a circuit with anything else is how people end up resetting a breaker in the middle of a run.
Where 20 amp circuits usually already exist in a house
Electrical codes require 20 amp circuits in a few specific rooms, so if your home was built or rewired in the last few decades, start looking in these places:

Garage. The most common home gym location and often already 20 amp. Read the note below before you count on it.

Laundry room. Usually a 20 amp circuit, and often on a shared wall with a basement or garage.

Basements and workshop areas. Frequently 20 amp, especially if the space was finished after the house was built.

Kitchen countertops. Normally two 20 amp circuits, though they are shared with appliances and rarely near where a treadmill would go.

Bathrooms. 20 amp by code, but GFCI protected and not a realistic spot for this machine.
Bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, and spare rooms are almost always on 15 amp circuits. That spare room is where most people picture the treadmill going, and it is the least likely room in the house to already have what the T150 needs.
The garage catch worth knowing before you order
Garages are the most likely place to already have a 20 amp circuit and also the most likely place to have GFCI protection, because current code requires it there. Body-Solid says a GFCI outlet will trip repeatedly with a motor this size. So a garage outlet can be 20 amp and still be the wrong outlet. Raise this with your electrician rather than trying to work around it.
One thing not to do: never use an adapter to force the plug into a 15 amp outlet. The NEMA 5-20P plug is shaped the way it is specifically to prevent that, and defeating it puts a 4 HP motor on wiring that was never sized to carry it.
If the circuit is not there, adding one is routine work for a licensed electrician. It is usually a short job when the panel has a free slot and sits near the room, and a longer one when neither is true. Get that quote before you order rather than after a 285 lb. treadmill is already standing in the room.
How is the T150 built?
The frame is welded heavy gauge steel. The drive motor turns a 7 in. diameter steel flywheel, which is what keeps the belt from surging between footfalls at speed.
Underfoot, the deck is 1 in. thick and sits on an 8 point elastomer cushioning system. The belt is a carbon fiber woven anti static material running over 2.4 in. sealed bearing rollers. Larger rollers mean the belt bends less sharply at each end, which cuts wear on the belt and drag on the motor.
Speed starts at 0.5 mph and climbs to 12.5 mph in 0.1 mph steps. Incline runs from 0 to 15% on its own 1/6 HP motor. A 0.5 mph floor is unusually slow for a machine this powerful, which is why the T150 turns up in rehab and senior fitness rooms as often as it does in gyms.

Who is the T150 for?
Gyms and health clubs, hotel and apartment fitness rooms, corporate gyms, and school, police, and fire training rooms. The light commercial warranty covers use in a paid membership facility, not just a home.
It also suits a serious home gym, with two conditions. You need the dedicated 20 amp circuit, and you need to be fine with a machine that never folds away. In exchange you get a frame warranted for 15 years in a commercial setting and for life in a home.
It is the wrong buy if you want a folding treadmill, if the only outlet in the room is on a GFCI circuit, or if your heaviest user is over 400 lb.

Frequently asked questions
Does the T150 need a special outlet?
Yes. It needs a dedicated 110V 20 amp circuit with a NEMA 5-20 receptacle. The plug will not physically fit a standard 15 amp household outlet. The section above on identifying a 20 amp circuit walks through how to check what you have, and where in a house one is most likely to already exist.
Can I plug it into a GFCI outlet?
No. Body-Solid says a GFCI outlet will trip repeatedly with a motor this size. That is normal for large motor appliances and it is not a fault in the treadmill. It needs a standard grounded 20 amp circuit instead.
Does the T150 fold?
No. The deck is fixed. Plan on the full 82 in. by 35 in. footprint staying where you put it. It does roll on two front transport wheels once assembled, so you can move it across a room, but it will not stand up against a wall.
How much room does it need?
The machine itself is 82 in. long, 35 in. wide, and 59 in. tall. Body-Solid asks for at least 4 ft. of open space behind and to each side. For ceiling height, measure from the belt surface rather than the floor, and remember a 15% incline lifts the front of the deck higher still.
What is the maximum user weight?

How long does assembly take?
About one to two hours with two people. The frame arrives mostly built. You bolt on the two uprights, connect the console cable and mount the console, then fit the side covers and the cord bracket. The tools you need are in the hardware pack.
How big is the running belt compared to a home treadmill?
The T150 gives you 60 in. by 22 in. Many home treadmills run 55 in. by 20 in. Those extra inches matter most for tall runners and anyone whose stride opens up above 8 mph.
