Exercise MET Calculator
Convert relative oxygen uptake into metabolic equivalents and optionally estimate calories for a session.
Enter VO2 in milliliters of oxygen per kilogram per minute. Weight and time are optional.
Calculator
Enter your numbers, then select Calculate.
How the calculator works
One conventional MET equals 3.5 milliliters of oxygen per kilogram per minute. MET value equals VO2 divided by 3.5.
How to use the result
Use the result as a consistent planning number. Record the inputs with the answer so a later comparison uses the same method.
Recalculate when the underlying inputs change. Avoid comparing results created with different units, measurement methods, or machine settings.
What the result does not include
The conventional MET can misrepresent resting metabolism for some people. A calorie estimate based on METs should be treated as approximate.
Frequently asked questions
What is one MET?
